Wilderness Areas
In the Pacific Northwest, the Forest Service manages 59 Wilderness Areas that encompass 4.6 million acres. Many protect the volcanic peaks of the Cascade Range; others surround chains of lakes in the high country; while others protect unique biological ecosystems and old growth forests. Find out more.
